Developing an Integrated Response to the Opioid Epidemic

The opioid addiction crisis is accelerating quickly in Pennsylvania, where hospitals handled 1,848 overdoses in 2014. The Allegheny County Health Department’s response, including disease surveillance, community outreach and harm reduction, marries public health and public safety in an attempt to more effectively incorporate responses from all sectors. FUSE Fellow Colin Dwyer will help the County further develop this integrated response to face one of its fastest-growing health risks.
