KALA FLEMING is a research scientist and engineer who designs and implements initiatives that drive adoption of next-generation technologies. In her most recent role, she managed IBM’s internal investments in blockchain, predictive analytics, and IoT. Previously, she worked with IBM Research in Nairobi, where she implemented AI and IoT solutions for water, agriculture, and healthcare. She has held engineering and management roles at American Water and Campbell Soup, and provided global consulting services to organizations such as the World Bank, the EPA, and USAID. Kala holds a BS from the University of the Virgin Islands in chemistry and an MS and PhD from the University of Wisconsin in civil and environmental engineering.
San Jose is working to provide a reliable internet connection to its residents, ensuring access to underserved communities who could benefit from online resources like continuing education, career development, and healthcare resources.
