TOM PYUN is a strategist, public health expert, and published author with more than 15 years of experience spanning the nonprofit, government, and private sectors. Prior to FUSE, he founded an independent consulting practice providing advisory services to philanthropies and nonprofits, including The California Endowment, Blue Shield of California Foundation, and LYRIC, a San Francisco LGBTQQ youth organization. Tom has also served as an Allan Rosenfield Global Health Fellow and a technical advisor for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Tanzania, and as a consultant with The Bridgespan Group in San Francisco. He earned a BA in Sociology from Vassar and an MPH with a concentration in epidemiology from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
Los Angeles County has been working to address chronic health, mental health, substance abuse and homelessness issues that create challenges for inmates. Tom has helped county leaders design an improved inmate processing system with the goal of optimizing the experience for patients. Read more
