Building a Resilient, Energy-Efficient, Self-Sufficient Utility Service

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) is undergoing significant transformation of older, aging assets as it continues its mission to provide reliable and resilient drainage, drinking water, and sewerage systems to one of the oldest cities in the country. Through the application of process and construction safety-centered programs, FUSE Fellow Priya Dey-Sarkar will help SWBNO to create a proactive approach to asset reliability via management and employee engagement.

In addition, Priya will help key stakeholders frame innovative energy alternatives for SWBNO’s drinking water, drainage, and power system that provides all critical water and flooding management systems for the city. Given the current emergency state of the agency, Priya will assist operations in day-to-day management of major contracts, a system-wide installation project, and other engineering and operational needs concerning asset reliability.
