Monetizing Public Real-Estate Assets
As the second largest real-estate owner in Washington D.C., the District government owns assets worth approximately $11.4 billion. The Department of General Services is building a system to inventory and manage the District’s real-estate portfolio. Once complete, the system will help the agency make strategic, data-driven decisions for all District property assets.
FUSE executive fellow Edwin McClendon will help implement the system and institute a process for its continuous improvement. He will help the agency use forecasting and cost-benefit analyses to improve decision-making and planning. The goal is to help monetize its assets so the city can increase and improve community services.
