Improving Services Through Smart City Technology
By 2025, it’s estimated that Los Angeles’ population will grow from 4 million to more than 15 million, which would make it the densest city in the U.S. City leaders recognize that they must adopt new approaches to meet the widely varying needs of a diverse and growing population and that the integration of new technologies into city infrastructure will be a key part of those efforts.
FUSE Fellow Dawn M. Comer will help the city create a Smart City Roadmap, launch projects, and create public-private partnerships that allow for a sustainable future. Smart cities and their underlying methods, technologies, and collaborations hold great promise to help improve Los Angeles, allow better provision of city services, and bolster equity for all. Much of the activity around smart city initiatives is coordinated with or centered in the Los Angeles Information Technology Agency.
