Recruiting a High Quality and Diverse Police Force to Restore Community Trust
Recruiting and retaining police officers who are representative of all communities — including those experiencing violent crimes and underemployment — is a major challenge for law enforcement agencies. St. Louis wants to create a more diverse and culturally astute police force that exemplifies the undaunted spirit of the city and serves as a source of pride for residents.
To achieve this goal, FUSE executive fellow Michelle Martin Bonner is helping launch an intensive recruitment program that results in a more diverse, well-trained, and unbiased police force. These officers will be committed to building a stronger, safer, and more resilient and unified city.
