SUSAN L. BARNES is an economic development and public policy professional with more than 20 years of experience working in Silicon Valley-based cities. She has extensive experience formulating economic development strategy and public policy, as well as facilitating community engagement and outreach. Susan has operated her own consulting business since 2010 and has worked with Contra Costa Water District, Santa Cruz County, Downtown San Mateo Association, the cities of Pacifica, Rohnert Park, Crescent City, and Skyline College. Previously, she worked as manager of economic development and redevelopment for the City of Palo Alto, a role she held for 12 years. Susan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UC Berkeley.
Project
East Palo Alto is working to curb the negative effects of traffic, congestion, and parking on its residents’ health, safety, and quality of life through innovative policies and programs. To do this, FUSE Executive Fellow Susan L. Barnes is working with staff on a Transportation Demand Management Ordinance, helping develop recommendations and identify a third-party consultant to implement and manage the program. Read more
